By the end of that year, we were attending HOFMI services and wanted to be part of the congregation. Sunelle, was invited by Pastor John to join a program called MiXchange and the rest of my family started doing the Bible School online. I was still at varsity but because of the revelation light that came, my own plans started slipping away. I had a choice to make. Would I live in self-oneness or live in oneness with God?

During my fourth year at university, I was also invited to join the MiXchange in 2022. Praise the Lord! I am so grateful to be part of a ministry that teaches Faith; a ministry with a legacy of spiritual giants. God called me to Witbank, out of my self-centered and worldly lifestyle and extremely demanding circumstances. Now my whole life is about pursuing God and seeking first His kingdom and righteousness. Praise Jesus!

My name is Melissa Delport. I am 23 years old. I have been a born-again believer for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a household that lived according to Word of Faith principles. My parents taught me how to live by faith, but unfortunately we were not planted.

When I went to university at the age of 18, I still loved God and went to church, but my priorities shifted quite drastically. All I wanted was to fit in and be succesful as a musician. I drifted away from the purposes God had for my life – I made my own plans. At the beginning of my third year at varsity, my eldest sister, Sunelle, discovered Heritage of Faith Bible Institute (HFBI). I believe this was a divine connection to Heritage of Faith Ministries International (HOFMI).

From the first day Phillip came to speak to us in the auditorium in February, I felt very nervous about conditioning since I had never been good at shorts or running. In fact, I avoided sports when I was in school because I felt embarrassed to run in front of other people. In this meeting with Phillip, I thought: “Do they really expect all of us to become professional athletes?” That’s what it sounded like to me that day.

However, I knew that I had to change my attitude before we started conditioning. Soon after, we were informed about the Ultra triathlon, the Slipstream event and Race to the Sun. I wanted to participate as much as I could without being unrealistic. I decided to run the Slipstream event (5km) and swim the 600m leg of the triathlon in a relay team with my sisters. At that time, it seemed like huge goals to me.

When we started running, I really didn’t work as hard as I had to in the past. I enjoyed the holy conversations and improved almost daily. Even though I felt tired directly after a run, I wasn’t put off by it. I wanted to keep running. I could definitely feel a boost in my energy thoughout the day because I had sown energy in the mornings. When I look back on it now, I realise that I couldn’t have done any of it without the house anointing. The collective aspect of the conditioning really works miracles. I went from not being able to run around the block to running 9km the weekend before the Slipstream race. Praise the Lord!

The swimming part was a bit easier for me. I had never swum competitively before, but I am fairly comfortable in water. I used to surf and swim in the deep ocean. My technique is obviously questionable, but I knew I would be able to swim the distance with consistent training. We started swimming in the reserve pool at 6am before running at 7am. I had to crucify my flesh almost every single time I had to step out into the cold morning air.

However, every time I got into the water and just started swimming, it wasn’t that bad. I also swam in the reserve dam twice before the triathlon event and both times were quite daunting, yet successful.

Shortly after the Ultra Race Weekend I started cycling on a regular basis. I used to cycle to a pond near our house as a child with my dad, but hadn’t cycled at all since then. One Saturday I decided to cycle as far as I could and only did about 5km. From there it gradually starting picking up. My biggest breakthrough with cycling came on the Dullstroom trip, after which everything changed for me. I am now an avid cyclist! Glory to God!
